Since the opening of the _____ FTP server (circa 2000), it has been a premium provider of various computer-media-oriented non-profit, educational, and instructional materials. The FTP server has undergone many changes: I have switched from the unstable, buggy, and unsecure Microsoft IIS 5.0 to the more convenient and flexible BulletProof FTP Server 2.15 (formerly known as the Gene6 FTP Server). Also, I have switched from the highly unstable PIII/800 to a standalone MS Windows 2000 Professional server, on a very stable PII/450 machine.
With the help of the server I have acquired and distributed over 150 GB of movies (film, as well as anime, mostly in DivX format), music (all genres, in MP3 format), and, of course, warez. I do not intend to stop this great service altogether. However, it has been talking greatly from my time and my computer resources, and therefore, as of Wednesday, August 15, 2001, 8:00 PM, the FTP Server will be shut down for all and any usage except for occasional file transfer or maintenance by the administrator, for an indefinite period of time, due to:
- lack of storage space/CD-R media
- overflow of unburned software cluttering the FTP Server and impeding its operation
- the demands of the FTP server
